As we enter the month of February, dedicated to love and romance, The Wright Eyewear Company wants to help you make an impact by highlighting how a red pair of frames can be an exciting addition to your eyewear wardrobe.
It is so easy to think that dark frames are the most practical option for eyewear, but as expert stylists, our team knows that wearing colour is not only fun, but it will actually enhance your complexion helping tap into that self-love that we all deserve…especially on Valentines Day!
Below, our colour-loving owner Kelly Wright shares her personal experience on how she wears RED to create an impact.
“If you opened my wardrobe door, you would definitely need a torch as the lightest colour in there is what I call my ‘summer black’ aka navy! I’m really not very adventurous when it comes to brightly coloured clothing (something I’m determined to change this year) because it’s so easy to wear black or navy, but when it comes to eyewear, I go totally off-piste. This is where I wear my colour and here’s why.
Simply put, by wearing colour on your face you are keeping the emphasis where you want it to be. What’s even better is that wearing the right colour on your face can do wonders for your complexion. So many people wear black glasses and, for the majority, that colour just drains their complexion and casts shadows just where we are trying to avoid! Going for a bright red frame like my Face a Face Hollow dresses up the dreariest of outfits, brightens the skin and creates a natural glow."
Not sure if you could go for something so bold?
"Some days I don’t feel as bold so I’ll tone down the red with my Lindberg frames which are a more subtle shade that is broken up with soft golds which match nicely with my blond hair. Accessorised with a scarf to match, my outfits never feel dull or boring. I just love this scarf from the British Legion, the red poppies really help the red in my frame to pop and helps to tie the whole look all together.”
It's not just us that love the colour...
Forbes contributor Maria Minor recently dedicated a whole article to the subject of red “colors are a lot more powerful than we realize. Colors symbolize different things and send messages to our subconscious. Each color can impact the people around you, but you should strongly consider using red to succeed and prosper. This vivid and cheery color is associated with our primal survival and signifies strength and resilience. Subconsciously red inspires and helps the wearer to take action and succeed.
In color psychology, red elicits the greatest feelings of any color. While calmer colors like green and blue are typically considered serene and soothing, red is the hottest and most emotional color. This intense color has more psychological and emotional connections than any other color in the spectrum. Red is associated with passion, love, power, confidence, and anger.
Along with confidence, red represents power, a relationship that can be noticed throughout our culture—the "power tie" worn by politicians, traditionally red. Sports uniforms have red as the primary color. The sacred "red carpet" rolled out for the most esteemed celebrities and notables.”
